Digitalization influences most processes of production and business activities in the economy. During the rapid development of the digital economy, its significance is reflected in its deep integration with economic and social sectors, in fostering digital transformation, and in the continuous adoption of new technologies, models, and industrial processes. This leads to the transformation and modernization of society, industry, and enterprises, promoting sustainable economic development based on innovative models.
This article examines the significance of the digital economy in modern economic systems, manifested through increased production efficiency, job creation, and the generation of synergistic effects across various industries. The digital economy, driven by digital technologies, the Internet, and the new business models they enable, has a significant impact on the development of modern economic systems. Digital transformation alters the fundamental principles of economic functioning, affecting both developed and developing countries.
The aim of this paper is to explore the impact of the digital economy on the development of economic systems, to present global trends as well as Georgia’s experience in this field, and to include relevant research and data.
